Plural Nouns
01 · Quick explanation
We usually add -s to make a noun plural: book → books. Some nouns add -es, change y to ies, or have special plural forms.
02 · Full explanation
Add -s to most nouns: cat → cats, girl → girls. Add -es after s, x, ch, sh, o: bus → buses, box → boxes, watch → watches. When a noun ends in a consonant + y, change y to i and add -es: baby → babies, city → cities (but a vowel + y just adds -s: boy → boys). Some nouns have irregular plurals that don't follow any rule: child → children, man → men, woman → women, foot → feet, tooth → teeth, mouse → mice.
