Adverbs of Manner
01 · Quick explanation
Adverbs of manner describe how an action is done. Most are formed by adding -ly to an adjective: slow → slowly, careful → carefully. Some are irregular: good → well, fast → fast, hard → hard.
02 · Full explanation
Adverbs of manner usually come after the verb (or after the object): She sings beautifully. He drives carefully. Formation: adjective + ly (quiet → quietly); adjective ending in -y changes to -ily (happy → happily, easy → easily); adjective ending in -le changes to -ly (gentle → gently). Irregular forms: good → well, fast → fast, hard → hard, late → late. Be careful: hardly does not mean 'with effort' — it means 'almost not'.
